When I saw the email from Arteles, I hesitated to click it. Would it say what I hoped?
It did.
I had received an Artist’s Residency for a month in Finland. There would be 12 of us, each with our own apartment. Because it’s interdisciplinary, studios are provided for visual artists, sculptors, choreographers, writers… and poets, like me.
I fly out of San Francisco on May 28, 2015 and arrive in Helsinki on May 29th. I will take a train to Tampere for a few days, and then on to the Residency in Hämeenkyrö for the month of June.
What is Finland like in summer? Daylight all day, all night. The temperatures will be similar to the coastal California town where I live — cool at night (40s and 50s F) and upper 60s F during the day.
I plan to photograph my travels and write brief stories about my Scandinavian / Baltic adventures. Interested in coming along? Click Follow on the black header at the top of this page.
Welcome to my far-flung life!
Hi Bart!
How’s life in finland? What exactly does your granted residence entail? Do you just get to play for the month, feeding your poets’ soul? Or do you have duties? 😀
